1959 Buick Electra 4-door hardtop - £40 inc. P&P

Image

This is the first Suggestion Friday winner, chosen because they're a massive favourite of mine and while the other suggestions were very, very good, I find it very difficult to resist anything from 1959.

That means we're open for a new round of Suggestion Friday from now until midnight on Sunday.

I've narrowed my choice for Suggestion Friday (none from here this week, but plenty from elsewhere) down to 3 offerings... it really isn't easy this time around!

In the meantime... Here's a portrait of my other half's Mk1 Triumph GT6 which has been offering a bit of a headache for him lately in the form of myriad oil leaks and previous owner/s bodgery that he's had to undo. Handsome, small and silly... the car is much the same ;)

Range Rover - £50

This is the winning suggestion for this week, an early Range Rover in beige. I've chosen to depict it towing a horse box through the countryside, mud up the sides, off to/from a horsey do. Completed in solely watercolour, which means the scanner took exception to it.

Now open for suggestions anew until midnight on Monday.

Suggestion Friday now open again until midnight on Monday.

Rich: I'll roll your suggestions over to this week, I managed to miss them last time around... not that they would have stood a chance against the car I chose from the suggestions made so you're in with a better chance now I'd say.

Suggestion Friday is open again now until midnight on Monday. Limited time and art-block this week means it's an ink only piece this week.

With the forum down here, I couldn't update on last week's updates. Suggestion Friday schedule got tripped up a little as I was very busy last week with paid work and now I have a single week to strip a whole car of everything useful, so again I'm having to prioritise paid work over the non-paid Suggestion Friday work and similar.

So, with that in mind, the previous week's updates are:

Suzuki Alto - Commissioned ink
Give me mundane little hatchbacks over bedroom poster cars any day of the week, this was a delight to draw up.
Image

Renault Alpine - Commission ink
More into the bedroom poster territory with this one but don't let that fool you into thinking I didn't enjoy working on it.  A good solid idea from the customer, clear reference images and a car that has surprisingly pleasant lines to work on made for a very enjoyable piece.

Hillman Minx - Commissioned ink & watercolour
I was surprised just how blue the shade of grey is on the Hillman when it came to colouring this, not at all the flat primer shade I had expected.

Suggestion Friday is cancelled this week, as it was last week, due to workload. But here's the one that was due last from last time and it was a very, very difficult decision to make given the high quality of suggestions offered.

Alvis Stalwart - SOLD

Tried a slightly different inking style, something a bit looser and more comic book. WOOP WOOP WOOP, that's the sound the Stalwart police riot amphithingy makes.

I like to imagine they drive it straight into the living room of the offending residence and tell them to shut up via the loudspeakers.

Ford Escort XR3i - £40 inc. P&P

Just an original in watercolour and ink of a car I needn't say anything about because it's a Ford hot hatch.
