I think I need to add a sun glasses smiley, OMG that is bright. Can't wait to see the finished product

It's been suggested I should paint the roof in Russet brown, then do the sills in BL hearing aid beige, and call it the Jaffa Cake!

I'm with John on this. No Russett on a 1972 Dolomite. Mine is covered in the stuff although it now sports some grey primer where I've been tackling the bits of grot.
Stick to your guns. I'm still undecided on the new colour for mine. I'm torn between Sienna, Damson or Sapphire.

But but but...
TBH, I'm still toying with roof colour, do I go Gloss black, satin black, or a nice metallic black? Whichever one I go for I will do the rear panel to match, rather than having two different blacks. I did have some VW Diamond black left in a rattle can I tried on the roof

But not sure how a metallic would tie in with a solid orange base?

I reckon the boot needs satin black to look right. Unfortunately, the roof would look awful with that! I agree about the Metallic not going with the solid orange (it looks like "Rotavator Orange" to me - the same colour as my trailer chassis!) - especially as it does tend to change hue when viewing at different angles.
Re: 1972 Triumph Dolomite 1850
Metallic black looks brilliant when it's deep and smooth, I happen to think that it would work on the roof and the tail rebate of something orange.
David, Sapphire for Brown's respray would be a refreshing change, IMHO, only thing is that then you'd have to change his name to Blue.

Well there are plenty of blacks out there to choose from, I mean there's at least 20 just in the current Audi colour charts

Oh and Sienna does look good when it's nice and shiny!

I've also toyed with the idea of a metallic version of Sienna. Some of the modern metallic browns do look good.
