Got an hour or so in on "Rusty"

Now have half a solid boot floor, and Terry, I have found the BEST use for a Rangey yet, the rotten tailgate provides lots of "swages" that transplant nicely to the boot of a Riley when patching ;)

The boy, who happens to be a very BIG fan of anything Land Rover was nearly in tears as he cried...
"Dad, I thought I was the only one who knew your old Rangeys tailgate was under the shed" when he arrived back home to see the wanton destruction. :D

I explained that it lives on and that it was the only way it was going to feel the rush of wind bouncing off tarmac ever again...don't think it helped though as he seemed to move protectively closer toward his 2A  .

Not today but within the last few days I have been investigating a misfire and "dead" sparkplug issue. Bought an infrared thermometer (with laser guidance) to see which of the 8 cylinders were not firing. Amazing little thing that found the culprit within 30 seconds - pot 1 = 89 degs, pot 2 = 229 degs, pot 3 = 230 degs, pot 4.... wait a minute, 89 degs! that's not right. New spark plug, same results. add the timing strobe light and a nice flash resulted so power was there. lifted the pancake air filter and stared hard into the Holley. one side seemed to be using fuel OK the other - hardly a dribble. Right, next stage is to strip the carb and give it a good clean, looks like the jet may be blocked. Then it's onto the brakes and a change of fluid to high temp racing fluid, maybe that will stop all those nasty little bubbles appearing every time I drive the thing.

Using it!! The modern needed a bit of work for the MOT, and as rain stopped play the Triumph was wheeled out to take over daily duties for a day or two  It fulfilled the role admirably! :D

As it's fathers day tomorrow, and as it's uncovered, I may just take it to Classics on the Prom tomorrow if the weather holds.

Managed to dodge the pigsh*t yesterday and get MOTs for the Midget and V8. A few specs appeared on the screen of the Midget and within seconds of my putting it back in the garage, it crapped down. The garage (http://www.sirhowygarage.co.uk/) had said to bring the V8 up around 11.30 (It's less than a mile away) and luckilly by 11.30 there was a big yellow thing in the the sky and the sky was a funny blue colour. Later that day it began crapping down but at least I have MOTs just in case Winter should end (I can't believe it stayed dry long enogh to get two MOTs :D   ; at least Gareth didn't get dripped on when he had the car on the ramp).

Workwise I had fitted a new windscreen washer motor to the Midget first thing, as the old one had given up the ghost and after the two cars were back, I cleaned them so that I could put the dust sheets on them.
Rules exist for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.

Will it have a bit of a "golfball" finish with all the perforations in the steel? It will be amazing to see how your project turns out espicially given how it looked when you first got it!
