1994 Range Rover

Post pictures and stories about your cars both present and past. Also post up "blogs" on your restoration projects - the more pictures the better! Note: blog-type threads often get few replies, but are often read by many members, and provide interest and motivation to other enthusiasts so don't be disappointed if you don't get many replies.

I would love to have a respray done but it is out of my price range at the moment. Hopefully when work picks up I will be able to start putting some funding on one side to making it look pretty. Until then I will keep doing the "cheap" jobs to keep it roadworthy :)

Timed that wrong, drove to Birmingham to collect a carpet (absolute bargain at £10) in the sun, got home and the heavens opened. Anyway, I now have a muddy but good carpet so I can finish putting my interior back together (if it ever stops raining).

As a side note, if anybody would like a VM Diesel Range Rover on an F plate, I know where there is a cosmetically tatty but solid one available for £950.

:o Sounds like the sort of thing I could use, Terry. Is it automatic?

:( Oh well, I should view this as saving the guts of a grand rather than losing a vehicle. :|

Tell myself that frequently enough and it'll stick!

You could always bung an auto in it. it's only a few bolts ;)

Yeah, that thought did cross my mind, but a suitable autobox for this is pretty rare and when they do come up, they're either valved for petrol models, minus TC or broken. It's not something that's in the top ten list of things I actually need, more like something I'll buy if/when a suitable one that won't be too labour intensive happens to drop at my feet. I'm pretty immobile these days so labour involving much more than pulling out the dipstick has to be farmed out to friends, colleagues and students and have you seen how many expensive biscuits students can eat? :o ;)

On the other hand, I can still weld just fine from a suitably fire-retardent chair which alas my last one wasn't.

(That's not mine but strangely enough it was quite an easy image to find, probably thanks to ATOS.   )

That looks about as flame retardant as my old carpet / kneeling mat were :S
