You are a brave man going that far with the bodywork yourself. I always think "I'll have a go at that" then chicken out.

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

I much prefer to play with bodywork these days than engines etc. OK it's not on par with a pro by any means, and I'm sure if Chap Foose saw it he'd tut in a most disapproving way and say that's far from ready for top coat! 
There's still plenty to do before it gets a top coat, OS doors need stripping still, then once that's done, front end needs finishing off, bit of fettling behind lights and grille still to do, then once that's done, a full on coat of filler primer, then once that's flatted back we'll start on top coats

I only hope the primer is waterproof or you'll have to be sanding the rust off before too long!
Perhaps you should spray it with matt lacquer and just go for the rat look after all!
I suspect (hope) Chap Foose will appreciate that the car is a daily driver and not meant to be a super-cool show winner. The important thing is that the car is used and enjoyed. I'm not knocking his work - that's something I could only wish to emulate and will never get close to the quality and finish, but practicality and cost have to come into the equation. I'd be afraid to take a car out if it was half as good as one of his - though we have cow muck and a regular dose of sea water on the roads, which almost makes me frightened to take the Golf out!

It doesn't venture from the garage much, I think this is only its second trip out since I started doing it! It was! It even got Radio 2 there, well Evans in his DB5 convertible ex Peter Sellars. Funny, as it was parked next to a rather nice Minor, which I gave more attention too!

I must see if I can find an old piccie of a dolomite I had in the late 80's, all red and the vinyl side bits in diamond white..... Not quite orange, but I thought it was cool at the time I'm sure there is an old fashioned film type photo of me and it at Blackpool lights if I can figure how to scan it.
I think yours might be a bit nicer though when done..I always had a thing for brushes and rollers
