but if I could convince my youngest that it would make a great 1st car...she turned 16 yesterday so I would have at least 18 months...and convince Mrs FB that despite not having any modern safety devices, it would make an Ideal 1st car........Hmmmmm!

Better still they both convince you it is too old/unsafe/uncool to be a first car and you have to keep it for yourself

Just to note that if you get a mog, even with the standard 1098 they do great doughnuts on wet farmyards and make all the local youths jealous that their fwd shopping trolleys can't. (I really should grow up)

And with these words, the reality pixies waved their wands and all at once, the menfolk became little boys again, the ones who used to stand with their faces stuck to the window of the local BMC showroom back in prehistoric times. Apart from Terry as he's not yet properly old.

I think the oldest 12 year old in the country is Stirling Moss. There are videos of him on youtube being a complete hooligan!

Anyway, back on topic(ish). You know you want to get the mog, 145 profile tyres and RWD make for lots of sideways fun even at 20mph on roundabouts if you press the throttle at the wrong right moment

You've all convinced me that I definately want a Mog, but as Rich said earlier it is probably best to learn to weld and do "bodywork" 1st. There is also the major obstacle of Mrs FB to overcome!

On the plus side, I have 2 years to try to convince my yougest to spend her student loan on getting a half decent one instead of the wreck down the road.

Poppy's bodywork is also starting to show that it is over 20years since her restoration so perhaps I should learn on her 1st. That's all rather grown up and sensible of me isn't it?

On the subject of leaning welding and bodywork, does anyone know of any courses in the Swindon area?

Alternatively, do any of you want a fat middle aged apprentice? I can make a good cup of tea and it will only cost you your patience and probably sanity!

The Morris Minor Owners Club and Peter James Insurance do good insurance rates for young drivers of Minors. It might be your daughter's only chance of getting independent transport.
