It sounds absolutely glorious, as you'd expect from a V8 with what would appear to be only as much silencing as the scrutineers demand.
I know the car and its owner from marshalling such events. He also has an XK140, does lots of such historic events, often with Malcolm Wilson's ex rally navigator in the passenger seat. Next such event is Lake District Classic on 15 July. I agree that it sounds wonderful being wound up on such events, other sounds I covet are the bark of twin 40's etc on Alfa's, Ford's etc and also the screaming of a certain Imp that seems to rev to infinity.

I saw an A reg Ford Sierra 1.3L in orange on my way home tonight. Looked totally standard and original with a little old lady behind the wheel. Not seen one that hasn't been chav'd in years

I don't know when I last saw a Sierra (The Cortina is now more common).
As to my spot, a lovely MG Varitone Magnette drove by the shop this morning. Pity the weather didn't do it justice but what a nice car; definatley a member of my fantasy collection.......if only I had a small factory unit size building and the money to fund it all
Anyone know the Lottery numbers for tomorrow..........or I wonder could I get Bob Diamond's old job

This morning in Battle I saw a P-Reg Mini Clubman Traveller (woodie). I have not seen one of those for years.

I saw this 1939 VW Steyr in Battle earlier to-day (library picture). Also I saw a V-Reg Mark 2 Escort in St.Leonards, Hastings.

Last evening I saw a V-Reg Blue VW Beetle in Battle. Also I saw this morning at Battle Railway Station, a P-Reg Yellow Ford Escort Mark 2.

The big Bentley has been back and fore this morning but I now learn that it is a replica (I haven't seen it up close). I could tell it was a six cylinder and so had assumed it was a Rolls Royce Bentley rather than a "Bentley" but it turns out that the engine is a Jaguar XK 4.2 unit. I must say that driving past, it looked pretty authentic and the garage, who have been working on it, described it to my father as one of the better kits.

I saw a F-Reg Blue VW Beetle, restored London Transport Routemaster, F-Reg ('69) Red Mini Cooper and a W-Reg ('81) White BEAUFORD SERIES 3. All in Battle earlier this afternoon.

F suffix is August 1st, 1967 to July 31st, 1968 but minis are notoriously difficult to date these days since so many surviving MK1 and MK2 (which an F-plater would likely have been) have been victim to V5 "rebuild" jobs and might have a later shell, which could be why you think it's a later car.
