Well my brother is now off work, so he's given me a few tips and new motivation on the car, so here goes! The red oxide primer was cracking in places, powdery in others and so I decided to just sand the whole car down. I've done it with wet and dry and in most places its come off pretty easily, so my pink MGB is now yellow (the cars original colour).

Where is hasn't come off, it looks solid enough so am just keying it. So far over the last two days I've done this much





Hoping to finish the other wing off tomorrow, then the roof and scuttle etc next week.

I've also been researching cylinder head upgrades such as porting etc. The heads are going off to my friend to have the valve seats ground and then I'll finish cleaning the ports and do any port matching that's required.

There is a great book 'Tuning the Rover v8 engine' http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Rover-Engin ... g+rover+v8 and lots of companies such as real steel, Clive Wheatley and RPi engineering if you need expert advice on tuning, you could go the twin turbo route?

Yeah, 'cos that engine is going to be really under-powered in an MGB.......

Thanks Ian, that book costs a fortune though! I tend not to go with convention and research stuff myself, and build engines/cars my own way and i'm happy with the research I've done so far.

RPi have some handy products (I run one of their ignition amps and it made a HUGE improvement and moving the ignition amp to a cooler part of the engine bay means it will last a decent length of time). If you call them for advice you will find that the bloke who runs it is an ars3. Call reel steel if you need tuning advice, they are very helpful.

Agreed, much strange carry on in the world of books. Some sellers assume that anything which is out of print (or not, as the case might be... ) is automatically worth big yoyos.

Mind you, this was the principle that saw one of my 1st edition copies of the F750 tuning book fetch €392 on eBay last year so I'd only be complaining as a buyer. As a seller, book prices online can be a source of deep joy.

I'm still waiting for my AA Book Of The Car to be worth millions!

I believe that book is out of print and still in demand, hence the crazy prices some people are asking (and in some cases, getting!)
