I agree that all prices in Halfords have increased, but the parent company results are not very good so they are desperate to increase margins in a cut throat business.

Sorry that richardtaylor has a spotty yoof in his branch, the lovely girl in Staines is worth a visit AND she is most helpful, really is.

You have to learn to pounce on Halfords when they have a 20% off offer and buy your oil etc then not when you need it.

Their Bosch wiper blades are competitively priced, same as Euro.

Thanks to all about Allparts, they are tucked away on the giant Slough Trading Estate which is why I haven't found them before.I will give them a try even though I hate going to Slough.

As to recycling, some of you guys seem to be getting away with murder on what you put in your bins, we have three big ones different colours and earn points for doing it properly.
Points redeemed for Marks and Spencer vouchers or similar.

Rules are very strict and you would get clobbered for putting ANY aluminium in recycle except drink cans, anything not suitable for blue and green bins must go in black landfill bin although now we have new plant we don't need to sort recyclable stuff, bottles go in with paper, PET drink bottles and glass all in blue bin but no plastics like bags or packing.

About oil changes, I have come to the conclusion that it is better to frequently replace the filter (cheap) and not the expensive fully sythetic oil my Beemer takes 8pints Edge Sport a fill at nearly £80 at discount prices, as Castrol says it doesn't wear out, just gets contaminated. The filter is conveniently sticking up vertically in the upper engine compartment.

I was going to take my old battery to the council site when I found a scrap merchant nearby who gave me £15 for it instead. Not to cast aspersions on the staff, but I reckon a lot of that sort of scrap finds its way across the road from the tip to the merchant.
