I did that with an old Fiesta mk2, rotten arches? No problems, slap an XR2 kit on, sorted. And it still cost less than £50

What's scrap worth these days? ;)
Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Oh dear! The daily modern averages better mpg than that abysmal sack of crap and doesn't need to be governed to 47mph to make it happen! Ligier bloody Ambra indeed! If they can drive the campervan that pulls it, then they have car entitlement and could use something better to drive than the Ambra, like a G-wizz or a Raleigh Grifter.

I have to confess to a certain admiration for the K11 cabrio though  , especially as it has the March goodies to make it go properly, but how short must the driver of a Micra be for that cherry stick to be needed on such a short car?

The steam Fox is well known and has quite possibly the best ever brush painted bodywork I've ever seen. It's also interesting but far too heavy so would need one of those pedals removing to render it driveable legally by me. Thank goodness for this, think of the money I won't be spending on coal! ;)

I'd heard of that kitten-based Moke-style thing but haven't met it. It looks well put together. The bloke seems to think that it'll be tax free in 2016 though  . I had hoped that ebay sellers would - by now - have got their heads round the idea that the exemption is from the start of the 41st year, not the start of the 40th and by 2017, we'll probably have a government that will stop the concession dead on its tracks. Again.
A stock kitten weighs 509 or 530Kg, light enough - on below 550Kg - for a manual one to be driven by someone with an auto-only restriction on their car entitlement as it qualifies under the heavy quad class, but kittens aren't blessed with the same light clutch action as Rebels (600+Kg, which is how I no longer have three of those), so ideally, [the Moke-a-like] needs the well established C3 gearbox transplant. And a roof would be good. :)

Realistically, I should cut my losses, especially as I'm not going back to Barinas and stop thinking about a small, GRP bodied vehicle. My next old jalopy is going to be Japanese, built from steel and blessed with an array of gadgets that would shame even the most modern of cars, as well as proper materials quality and an IL6 Diesel engine that's known for its extreme longlastiness. 8-)
