I'm just going to the workshop to unload my US Navy Willys off the trailer. I towed it to the NEC behing my USN 1942 Dodge WC51. An easy task at a steady 50 MPH and 9 MPG. It's only money!! They were on the MVT stand in hall 19.

I thought the layout was not as good as in previous years with club stands mixed with trade stands but still an enjoyable show. Manning a stand for 3 days means you don't get time to round all the site and spend money you don't have on things you don't need. I did buy a Jim Beam enamel sign. I needed that and the wife said I can put it on the wall....she hasn't said what wall though. £7-20 for a bacon burger and £4-75 for a hotdog was to say the least removing the urine!! I bought a cup of coffee for £2-20 just for the cup as I took my flask and forgot the cup.

The M42 was closed between junctions 5 and 6 but we got off on an earlier junction. Easy run in each day. We had to be on the stand half an hour before the show opened.

We'll be back in 2014 with a bigger stand I hope

I did come by the MVT stand. (There were Jeeps, so i had to! Moth to a flame  ) 3 very nice vehicles, wish i could have spend longer looking at them.

One question though, on the Dodge. 'Octaine' ? Deliberate or accident?

Er...deliberate mistake. I copied the wording off a photograph I found. Made the stencil and sprayed on the wording. A mate said "You've spelled 'Octane' wrong." "No I haven't look." and showed him the picture I had copied it from. I checked in the dictionary and then found another photo and realised the guy who had done the stencils on the vehicle in the photo couldn't spell! So mine still says 'Octain'. I have made a new stencil, I only need to make the time to finish the job.

You should have made yourself known to one of us on the stand. The US Navy Dodge WC51 and the Willys MB on the stand are mine. The other jeep is a 1945 Willys MB rebuilt by Hochkiss into a 24 volt M201.

There were some very nice classic cars there most of them 'Trailer Queens'. I saw them arrive and leave. My Willys was trailered because we didn't have enough drivers.

Ah, well. Gives it character!

I'm kicking myself now. :( Wish i had known before, i would have hung out and chatted for hours. (karma for my BiL who spent friggin forever talking to the 2CV club...  ) Apart from the DJ5 there was a definite shortage of Heeps at the show. I would have been the saddo looking at the front crossmembers to check what it was.

At least i got to meet the garages 'celebrity' over on Carole Nash stand.

Slightly OT, but dug up an old picture from when i used wheel in California. Take a close look at the vehicle in the centre. That's my friend Mike. (i'm with the black '89 YJ, my previous Wrangler) If you want, i can find more.

If you can't find drivers next year let me know... ;)

Well managed to achieve quite a lot over the two days at the show - some stunning motors - some pretenders - some vastly over restored totally spoilt cars which I just cannot understand the mentality of the owners - they must lead a truly sad life - and some very, very nice just right - on the money cars with some very justified 'Proud Owners'. Nice to see a thriving club scene throughout the show and we met some really nice people / owners / visitors - ok time for some pics

Imps!! Ugh infact quadruple ugh!! The best thing about the Imp was the day they stopped making them. The XK was nice. I had a walk round with the Carole Nash celebrity on Friday. 8-)

UKJ why didn't you come over for a chat. We would have welcomed you into the 'hospitality Lounge'. I'm sorry about you're B-i-l. Your parents must have been bitterly disapointed.
