after a lot of faffing about ive finally got a replacement... mine was an import so not the same as the standard ones, fitted in under an hour!! im giving it a test run later.. :D

update
suns out & car is going well now.. just need to sell it now

Quick suggestion, you drive it back to an English relative, have a quick holiday and sell it over here.

there is no english mot or tax on it..... it does have the french ct & is fully insured but still on english plates... do you know anyone who does an mot by post?

took the car out for a spin today.. all the same dash lights lit up... i think im going to shoot the bloody thing :twisted:

:idea: Just a thought, Rich. The MR2's alternator doesn't by any chance have an external regulator does it?

I suspect it has a fusible link which has blown. I have blown the one in my range once which lead to a replacement alternator and lots of swearing.

Have you checked to see if there is any voltage getting to the exciter? if that is fused, it may have blown.

thanks for the advice! where do i find the voltage exciter?.. be gentle with me i am thick..
