you would be surprised how easy it is to remove... the aircon belt is a challenge but when you know where to look for the bolt its easy :lol:
ive only skinned the knuckles on one hand this time....

alternator removed now take off the bracket.

need a bit of space 3 bolts & 2 nuts to remove alt bracket

pull alternator out through the top

bracket & alt out & ready for visit to auto electrician :D
see i said it was easy!! even i can do it :lol: :lol:

The red one is what an MR2 looks like after you get frustrated changing the alternator and need to vent ;)

Whichever f***in' genius put that alternator down there deserves to be beaten in public by Adam Ant, king of the alternator-slinging scene. :o

Saying that, I did once fall out with a Fiat Seicento (modern, front-engined one) bigtime because its alternator was in almost as dumb a place. :twisted:

honestly john its not that difficult to remove or refit, what is painfull ive got the old one back in bits, the technical term for it is fu##ed.. and a new one is between €220 & €290.... guy cannot get the bit as el presidente is increasing tax on everything & its now cheaper to buy new...
im just going to attack a bottle of sparkling to calm my nerves

Have you thought about asking specialist Japanese breakers over in the UK for prices on a used alternator? It can't be unique to Mister Two and Japanese electrics are reliable so there ought to be good, used units out there that will last long enough for you to flog the car or drive it somewhere that you could burn it without being spotted. :D
