I have lots of Star Trek on Betamax and Grundig/Philips V2000 tapes. Even S-VHS was only the equal of the V2k format, never better than it. I use my older magnetic machines regularly 'cos I'm weird like that.

V2k machines are also far & away the easiest to repair and you can record on both sides of each tape. Win! 8-)

I'm surprised that you have tapes that still work. I remember my little brother getting a VHS of something or another as a birthday present. He liked it so much it got watched every day often more than once. After about 6 weeks the tape snapped. My parents were very relieved.

All my Red Dwarf VHS tapes got stolen about 10 years ago when my house got burgled ...

thieves with good taste
when we got broken into they stole a vase & all or cutlery...
repairing the damage cost more than replacing what they stole

This house hasn't been touched but when in London both of houses had been. Thieving goits didn't take my cutlery though. A very bizarre thief breaks in to pinch your forks!

Why don't members of my family present concrete amphibians to me? I'd have loved that frog. :(

I'd have thought that was the first thing they'd go for - after all, it's the fork that counts, eh?
