lol, waiting for a manual one to come up, I've missed out on a couple recently, but they were at opposite ends of the country, and you can't solotow an e34.

hmm, I wonder how much it actually weighs in comparison,
mk1 escort 1300 wighs in at 805kilos, e38 318ti weighs in at 1290kilos.
so ti is 490 kilos heavier to start with, but hen I've lost some real heavy weight items like the doors, tail gate and roof, but hen ive added 2.5 full sheets of 1.6mm sheet.... I'd like to wager that it's finnishing weight should be around the 1000kilo mark.

1.6mm, that's near as dammit 16swg! Blimey, you could use that in a ram raid and come out without a single sign of any impact having taken place, that'll be one strong car when it's finished.

original steel on the escort is 1.2mm, but yup, it will certaily beat puting a 25k kilo bag of cement in the boot to aid cornering
as I say, weight isnt that much of an issue to me, after all a mercy lambo weighs near as damit 1800 kilos,
And strong in an accident?...dang that doesnt bear thinking about, but then I dont intend to be crashing it, but it should fair better than a standard Mk1 escort in a crash.

hi bubs,
nice job welding all that in

i know it alittle late now has you done the wiper motor it might have been easier using a morris marina or allegro wiper motor as they run on a small treaded tube with the motor at one end. much easy to fit under windscreen panel, but it done now, you never know you may do another one day

Main problem with that being I wanted to keep all the wiring in the car standard BMW. Nothin like modern 3 speeders, with settable intermittant wipe, that and decent modern switch gear.
Once I have this all boxed in tomorrow, I can then think about mounting some tabs so i can cable tie the wiring to the bulk head

Already have me another buggered shell, so a lot of measurments are going to be used of this one, so all this can be replicated and built long before the shell is dropped on top.
Next shell is a 4 door though, so that will promptly be fabricated as a 2 door, useing this one as a template for the rear window appetures etc.
but i've got to get this one all up and dusted first, and then make a start on my Granny coupe again.
