Love the cabover! Is it my eyes playing tricks, or is the front bumper made from a slab of rather wonky timber?

According to the blurb, front bumper was timber, but now has a metal one as shown in some of the pics. Maybe woodworm got the better of it. Chevy small block in a Ford though?
