Fancy a Maserati but don't want to be one of the many thousands who have a Quattroporte? eBay may just have found the alternative solution to the age old dilemma of which Italian GT to buy when you want to be different:

If I said it looked like a Princess with a boot stuck on the back, would that make me a barbarian?

Not at all, but there again I'm considered something of a heretic.
That's when they are not calling me Grumpy.
I don't bloody believe it.

No, but it would expose my reason for liking the car in the first place! ;)

The Missus was really disappointed over the Merc, but now, having agreed that an MG TF, that comes with the K series engine, is not a car of choice, she rather fancies an MGB GT. What shall I do with this woman?
The guy who takes care of the existing MG, offered me a 1967 MGB GT, donor car. It's a bit of a wreck, but it's engine/gearbox and most of it's running gear are in good nick. The garage guy's generosity is due to the fact that he gets the work. Today, I did a few sums.
Approximate labour charge, ballpark figure. Six Grand.
New shell including doors, tailgate, bonnet and all hinges, plus nuts and bolts. Eleven and a half grand.
Wire wheels rechromed, who knows how much that will come in at.
Interior dash, seats, upholstery, floor covering. Anybody's guess.
So much else it gives me a headache just thinking about it.
Just say a conservative figure for a restored 1967 model would be about £20K.

Ludicrous, out of curiosity I searched for a restored car for sale, and found this.
Click on the word this at the end of the last sentence. Here's the car, asking price, fifty quid short of eleven grand.

GHT - Before I had even got to the bottom of your post I was going to reply that it would be more economical to find a good well restored car has it would be half the cost - Former Glory - keeps nice a stock of well sorted MGB's - http://www.classicmg.co.uk/ - Game on with your other half though - I like her choice of motor and everything is available for them parts wise plus a well restored one is easy to maintain
