Yay! Long live freedom of speech. I was expecting to see a few of my favourites in that list and relieved when only one appeared.

One query though; was the thing about Allegro screens popping out not an urban myth, started by a press officer working at a rival car factory?
OK, and one more: As perceived aesthetic shortcomings was one of the criteria in that list, how come the SsangYong Rodius didn't get a mention? Few cars are so ugly that they genuinely do hurt the mind of the observer, but this effing great munter:

Sick, and not in a positive, 21st century youth speak way. :o But if nothing else, it shows us where BMW found the inspiration for that Coupé styled off road thing that they did, the one that looks like an X5 but uglier.

There is a man in the next village with one of those. I was out for a walk last summer going back towards home there is a long steep-ish hill. Aforementioned SsangYong was making its way very slowly up it sounding like it was struggling, I heard it change down twice before I looked to see what car it was getting slower and slower it eventually cut out and rolled back a good few meters before he gave up, turned round and went the long way in to the village avoiding this particular hill. I haven't seen the car on that road since. Not so much a car as modern "art" nobody really gets why it was made, it doesn't do anything useful and to anyone blessed with the gift of sight looks terrible!

Speaking of cars designed fto be more of as art than for use a certain Pontiac Aztec springs to mind!
Which later inspired the Nissan Juke!

Don't knock the Aztec, it played a starring role in breaking bad (and appeared in chasing classic cars (concourse de lemons)

I have worked on many Allegros. I have jacked them up and no glass fell out.

I would think what about bad roads. The Allegro wasn't a bad car. They were used as Panda cars by a few Police forces.

JPB wrote:Moskvich, not that spelling it correctly would make it a bad car any more than nasty Russian bias belted tyres did. On decent radials, these things are fine, pleasant in fact and I missed the chance to own a really good one when they were still cheap and unloved. Now, like all of the cars from the old Eastern Bloc, they're lusted after by a dedicated and growing group of enthusiasts.

What you need to consider is that bad and good are subjective terms and you're on a hiding to nothing if you think that any genuine enthusiast cares even a little whether some geezer - driving around in an ancient remnant from the age of conspicuous consumption - gives a toss whether this person likes their ride or not. Actually, the more you knock the underdog, the more its loyal band of aficionados will protect it so well done; you just attracted another few dozen to the cause of the cars that civilisation overtook with its dark windows closed tightly, its air conditioning churning out air as cold as its driver.

They are quite good the metal is very thick...so slow to rust right through

Edited: But AMC Pacers are fairly unpleasant... ;)

Hey man...Hate is a bit of a strong word isn't it?

Well trying not to sound like a peace loving dope smoking liberal, but don't all cars, no matter how bad the "crowd" say they are, will have something interesting about them and will have a crowd, however small of dedicated followers?

eg. (among many other possibly redeeming features)
Allegro - Quartic steering...(No one knows why but still an intersesting feature)
Trabant - made of cardboard wasn't it? surely that's interesting?
Fiat Multipla - Actually a great practical family car. (I had one and can defend it against all comers for hours)
Marina - my 1st car. Loved it and have very fond memories.
Moskovitch - great name.

etc etc etc

For everyone that "hates" a car, they'll be someone else that "loves" it, possibly for the reasons above and many others.

I don't particulary like the Daimler Dart. I think it looks like it should be in Whacky Races but I wouldn't dream of saying it out loud (Ooops!) as so many people love it for just that same reason among many others.

Asking "what's the worst car?" and stating that you "hate" a particular car just seems like and easy way to start a pointless online row.

Anyway, 'nuff said...Peace man...now where did I put my stash...?

A good question. Finding suitable storage was so much easier before some smart Alec invented digital photography. :|
