Whilst I find some of the "restoration" on Wheeler Dealers to be rather shallow in its nature (more titivation, than restoration), the show is gernally entertaining and there are genuine serious projects carried out at times. The fitting of the new chassis to the TVR Cerbera, for example. On the whole, though,the format does encourage the back-street motor trader type of work (in keeping with the presenter's nature).

I am a fan of SOS, they do show more details in the work than most other shows.
Wish there was more details for guys that work on our project cars.

The bit about cold welding was very interesting.

I watch both WD and Car SOS and both are enjoyable. I think WD has been on long enough that we know the format and what we're getting. We'll see if Car SOS lasts as long. Both cover pretty niche subjects so need the presentations skills of Mike Brewer and Tim Shaw prancing about and doing deals to add to the entertainment value for mainstream viewers. Have to say I was impressed with Tim's knowledge of VWs on the show with the Mk1 Golf GTi, but all the nonsense with t-shirts and tattoos was just cringeworthy. Same with the Stirling Moss episode, the way he tried to use his "connections" to blag a better deal.

In terms of the other aspects, WD is all about showing that a profit can be made on a reasonable budget (Edd China's labour costs aside, or should that be labor as they're in the US for this series). Car SOS is very much a feel good factor show as they return abandoned projects to worthy owners.

The actual restoration bits are few and far between but I know that and watch it just the same. Between the other aspects of each show and the recap after each ad break there probably isn't any more than about 15 minutes of actual restoration work shown. I'd love to see Edd or Fuzz with a soldering iron converting an RVI tacho to RVC for electronic ignition. That was my job last weekend, but I guess that's one of the less sexy aspects of car restoration.

managed to watch the sierra cosworth episode last night.. cant see why the rad wasnt checked or changed when the engine was out.. otherwise nice job chaps.. id love to know how much the restorations cost.. will phil reveal all

Just looked at the Corvette episode, if anyone ever had any doubt about Fuzz' welding ability before that - get a labrador if that's you - then surely this would have put you right, the way he got in about at it with the grinder, cut the GRP skin open and stitched that rotten steel substrate in the pillar back together was something else. Brilliant job, so now I'm going to look at it over again. And again. I'm glad that not all drummers' attempts to turn a Corvette around end in disaster. Apologies to Rick Allen for the cheap jibe..

After last night, on SOS with the Alfa it shows what a good job Fuzz and the team do on the cars.

The Alfa looked to be the worse project so far?
As for the cost, of that one maybe the highest so far?

The chap was overjoyed, you cannot put a price on that.

Some of the story's really touch your heart strings.

I would still like to see, more details of the work being done.

I was watching a re-run this morning (the Mk1 Zodiac) and thought that it's been a while since Phil posted on here. I hope he is well and success hasn't gone to his head!

The re-runs are far more entertaining than Homes Under the Hammer (and other offerings), though I think Lucy what's her name is better looking than Fuzz

Edit - yes, I watch telly while having my coffee after walking the dog - the dog insists on watching telly!!

I was also thinking we hadn't seen Phil on here for a while. Phil, here's hoping all is well and that TV stardom isn't taking its toll too heavily.
