Or Land Rover for telling you to use EP - I've just checked my Series 3 handbook (the one LR supplied with new ones) and it specifies EP90!
Big Green Bible says EP90 for pretty much everything for everything drivetrain related from front axles, swivels, gearbox and back axle. Buy it by the gallon!
Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound

However, since following this thread, I now realise that the Land Rover handbook was very much pre GL5 oil and that older EP90 would not have been a problem. I will be contacting Smith and Allan soon; I've bought oil from them before and the price and service are right!
