To be honest I would imagine we are definitely in the minority, I rather suspect a vast proportion of the population would have done nothing and just kept them.

Slightly off topic but in the same vain, years ago we went into a restaurant in America for some lunch. When we got our food and went to sit down there was carrier bag on one of the seats containing newly purchased clothing. We took the bag to a member of staff and explained we had found them and he looked at us gone out and frankly speechless. He then explained that this sort of thing does not happen in America - ever. In fact in his best South American drawl he insisted we kept them - which we refused, we were then the talk of the restaurant.

The point being I recon we are unusual in our honesty.
