Less than £30? No need to shell out that much for something to fit a Lucas distributor and in fact the Britpart - as sold for many times the price by some eBay sellers such as SimonBBC who probably have enough buying power to get them in from China at 60p each - can even be fitted in pairs to several twin contact distributors, to ancient motorcycles as a discrete upgrade to ancient Magneto systems and at the price, most folk buy a couple and keep one in the glove hole.
Here's the current version at MM4x4. They're not daft, that was half the price from them only a couple of years ago.
Many clubs, including the Nearly Everywheres of which I'm a member since 1982, have sufficiently large memberships to justify buying these in bulk for their stock. 60p each like I said.
I had a Pertronix (AKA Aldon Ignitor if you buy the rebranded and heavily marked up version rather than go straight to the CA-based seller) in 3 of the Rebels and that died after a total of under 30k, one of the Britpart jobbies and another to carry as a spare have now been some 107,000 miles in total in the car which is still running daily with it fitted and that spare? Still sat in the glove hole.
