Oklahoma high winds

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Would your Mrs be prepared to move to the states?
I have done a few short contracts in Atlanta and the pace of life there is rather more relaxed than London. Last time was 4 years ago or so. I was renting an apartment which cost about 2/3 as much as one in London and was about twice the size.

Atlanta is a pretty nice city. The only killer is the traffic, but for the most part, the weather is fantastic, people are great, you're on the east coast so not too far from beaches, mountains or the UK (about 8 hours flight).

Right now, the housing market is pretty soft so you can get a lot of bang for your buck.

The funny thing was, one of the guys I was working with described Miami as "just down the road" so without bothering to do something like look at a map, we drove there for the weekend. really long boring roads. Next time, I am flying!

Yeah, if it's under 10 hours to get there. It's just down the road :). Take A1A next time, much more scenic then I95. Destin and Savannah are beach towns and about 4 hours away.

You will have to sell your body for medical research ;)
Is your Mrs working? if not moving will be that bit easier. Just remember you may have some problems importing your car collection to the states unless it is over 25 years old.

An English accent goes a long way in the states (one of the reasons I kept getting asked back was because I "sounded professional" plus girls liked it). Apply for a visa and see what happens. Worst case scenario you have wasted a few $ on an application. If you don't get on you can always come back.
