I don't know when I last had to defrost a car (OK I cycle to work), as I am one of those rare people, who uses the garage for it's intended purpose
However, one of our customers was killed by an idiot "Tank driver", who had seemingly removed about the width of a credit card of ice from his screen, before setting off (The driver was a Frenchman too; lucky for him he wasn't at home in France, as they take a much dimmer view of knocking cyclists over than we). He ploughed straight into the back of our customer, who died a week or so later, from his injuries. Ten + years on, I wonder whether something like a Light & Motion VIS 180 rear light would have penetrated the frost on the screen and turned it slightly red, so the clown, in the car, would at least have realised there was someone there (Our customer had a few lights on his bike but the Light & Motion VIS is a monster of a light, albeit small in size, the kind of which was not available then)
I guess we'll never know that
