Ay up!

The Swearfest is over. Richard's Fiesta is now continent once more. I thought that I'd either not tightened up the bolts properly or damaged the part. Turned out that the feeble excuses for a hose clip that Ford use are not reusable after all so new, proper Jubilee clips have been purchased and installed. Richard is over the moon.

Perhaps the canteen girls will not now be so insistent on the door being closed.....

Meanwhile I have found meself backed into a corner with Fifi. The Centre has decided to take a stall at a local fete selling, of all things, nest boxes. We have hundreds of 'em and I shall shortly be setting up a Fleabay shop to try and shift some of 'em on to new homes. They are excellently made, mostly by Special Needs kids and the sales will be to raise money for the Centre. Anyway, Steph, the canteen manageress who booked this BTW, was very keen that all sections, including the Motor Vehicle Section be represented. We have a choice of 2 tatty LDV vans, a tatty Rover 216 (VOR), a Dawoo Matiz (VOR), Peugeot 306 convertible (VOR), Ford Escort convertible (The Boss's personal transport), the remains of a Porsche 924S (very VOR) or Fifi. I have eight weeks to make her presentable. At least the Irwin bolt crackers have arrived!

Now, who was it on the French Car Forum with that interior for sale? Must buy paint! And Filler! And some replacement chrome trim! Help!

VOR?

Means "VHF Omni-directional Radio" to me, but not seen that on a car for a while....????

John, you are right. I picked the acronym up while working in the transport industry where if we had a VOR, that was very urgent because it wasn't earning money.....

Couple of things have happened since my last post.

First off, Fifi has new front discs and pads. These were fitted by our NACRO apprentices under my supervision. Their trainer, Steve, was anxious for them to work on what he called "Somthing Exotic." We have a knackered 924S, isn't that exotic? Well, yes, but Fifi moves under her own steam. Once they got their heads around the fact that because the system behind the brake piston is wierd, it doesn't naturally follow that the system in front is, then they did well. The brakes have had their first test this AM when a kid ran straight out into the road. No ball bouncing across for warning, either. I can report that the brakes do work very well!

As for the meeting with the Boss, two things have happened. Fifi is confirmed as representing "us" ie motor vehicles on the Timken stand. I need to make a board showing the kids at work on her because I am not afraid to use my car as a teaching aid. Let's face it, a strange car can be an asset when teaching motor maintainance.

The second thing is I am to set up a fleabay shop for our company and earn my corn through that, Me, a fleabay wheeler/dealer? I knew more about it than I thought I did when I started thinking about it. Business Plan sorted as far as poss, action to pester various people until I get the info I'm after.

Fifi has thrown a spanner in the works. Her rear suspension is stuck on high (ooooooooooh, me aching back!) so she'll have to go on the lift Monday to be hit with big hammers.

Meantime, she looks like one of the '50s hot rods with its bum in the air. Piccie to come.....

My range rover does that with the drivers side air bags occasionally. Sticky valves.

Are you going to chrome your rear axle and point a fog light at it for the true retro look?

I reckon a fault somewhere in the linkages to the rear height corrector. Hammers and ramp all ready for tomorrer....

takes me back to the 70s with all the cortinas etc with jack up kits...
