Re: What vehicles did your friends parents drive?

Firstly, neighbours' cars:
My friends Dean and Peter's parents had an assortment of Datsun 180Bs, a Ford Falcon XC and a Mazda 929 estate. All were manual (including the Falcon with its three-speed column-shift) because the mother hated automatics. My friends' uncle, who lived with them, had a Chrysler Valiant AP6 in gold.
My friend opposite, Wayne, had a number of interesting heaps in his family: a mid-fifties Morris Oxford which caught fire and burnt out in the back garden, a very early Ford Prefect with a picture of Goofy painted on the top-right corner of the boot lid and a Mark II Zephyr, reg. BD 9222 were the ones I can recall. Wayne's Uncle Peter drove a brown Mark II Cortina GT, which he and Wayne thought were very cool.
One other boy, who I knew but wasn't really friends with, used to boast of his father's bright orange Valiant Charger E49 (the one with the triple-carb Hemi 265 six). The boy had good reason to boast - it was quite a car and one of the fastest cars on the road in its day.
Then, school friends' cars:
My good school friend David's parents used to buy a new Holden Commodore 6 each year. While I knew him, there was a red VB, a green VC and a beige VH, before his parents split up and mother was reduced to driving avery second-hand Holden Camira. When the parents reconciled a few years later, the string of Commodores resumed.
My other friend Richard, whose parents were quite wealthy, had two Mazda 626s (at the same time), a Holden Commodore VH6 and later, a new Toyota Cressida GLX 2.8i, which we used to drive when Richard's parents were out of the country.
