made it.. although now my hearing isnt what it was.. nice car but it seems very low geared & will accelerate well over the speed limit but doesnt seem to have any cruising speed.. 1000 km of motorway at 110/120 kmh was hard work...

I know mine isn't the same model, but mine is low-geared and the ratios are quite close together. Mine turns 3500rpm at 100kph in 5th gear.

Mine is also loud, but I put that down to the aftermarket exhaust. :D

It isn't a noisy car normally. Mine was very civilised at motorway speeds until I fitted the intake kit and stainless exhaust at least!

Depends I suppose, but the one owned by a colleague of mine was only unacceptably noisy when she lost the back end of the thing on a wet bend and screamed right in my ear just as she realised that we were about to fall off the road and possibly be killed to death.
Fortunately, we landed in about a foot of liquid mud, which was nice.

On the previous trips I'd been out on in her car, no, it didn't seem especially noisy but then I've never really found MR2s all that loud either. The engine's mounted pantomime-style* in the Toyota, so by driving more quickly, surely you should leave the noise behind? Worth a shot I reckon. :D

I have looked under the front "bonnet" of mine a few times and wondered if a Corolla cross-member and a second engine coul be fitted. 8-)
