When we build trailers here, if we want to register it we are issued a VIN from VicRoads. We have to stamp the vin on the frame. We also have to buy and fit a "Compliance Plate" stamped with the VIN, year of manufacture, make, model, tyre size, TARE and Gross mass. Even though my yellow trailer does not need to be registered I had a VIN and compliance plate issued, just in case I ever want to register it and also to help identify it if it's ever stolen. The compliance plate says it's a 2009 BNICHO BOX. :D
