Rich, I'd really enjoy an Eclat or similar but given that I got stuck in a friend's Mazda MX5 once and had to be lifted upwards to get me out of there, I think that something equally low, but with a fixed roof, might be unwise.
OK, so minis aren't exactly tall either, but I have a technique for putting one on and taking it off again that only involves a small amount of major pain and only ever causes the right shoulder to dislocate itself, which is fine as I've got used to popping that one back in and can do it in under a minute - with only my left hand and a suitably stout wall to assist. :D
I've a suspicion that entering and exiting a Lotus would loosen several more of my sloppy old joints.

Give this lot a ring and ask if it can be fitted to your choice of plastic car:

Understeer: when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
Oversteer: when you hit the wall with the back of the car.
Horsepower: how fast you hit the wall.
Torque: how far you take the wall with you.

Fly, me? No chance pal!

I like the Rover Metro but I'd go for one with a roof thanks! Hides behind something large and padded (thanks Nathalie ..), just in case a posse from the Lotus Rover Metro Elan Owners' Club decides to launch a missile attack on my house.. ;)

Come on John - face up to it - Fibreglass Mini ? it's never going to happen - just get it out of your system and look for an alternative - in fact here is the alternative virtually tailor made for you with nice access to the cab area, cab is fibreglass too so there's another one of your fetishes scratched, V6 engine with loads of grunt & go, Auto box - it get's better - convert that load bed with a mattress - hang some nice curtains on the sides and nice retro paint job on the cab and the ladies will be queuing up for a ride  - I mean lift
