Checked the plate, that's amazing, it must be one of very few cars I've looked up which has never picked up an advisory! None, not one, not even a wee one, ever.
OK, so in 2014 it failed a test on major rot in what's described as a mounting area for a steering component, but this can apply to rack clamp brackets (easy fix, once done will be good for decades) or to chassis sections (not hard, but need to be restored properly rather than plated for the test) and that fail didn't come back when it was tested last year, so may be properly sorted and no cause for alarm this time around. OTOH, that test only expired a month since so if the Datsun is that good, I wonder why it hasn't been put up for another test?

Who could fail to love a Crayford William, or any of its foreign clones? Brilliant bit of kit and becoming more common at shows these days. What's the microcar behind the William in the images? Ligier? I believe that the petrol engined version of these is most sought after in the days leading up to the fifth of November.

Ta very much for asking for the contact details for the Datsun, Seaham's not too far to go in a day, certainly close enough to book an MOT closer to home, insure the thing and drive it away. £850 isn't too far above what it's worth so I'll investigate that further if it's still available.

Certainly not. After all, the notion that you might like any car as modern as the William is absolutely at odds with your taste.

Well that's a relief, because these are currently being made for me, should be ready by the end of the month. There was a time when I got a lot of stares when out shopping at Morrisons. Nowadays, they just think that I'm a cranky eccentric. Those shoes are the finishing touch to an outfit that a tailor in London, who specialises in vintage fashions, made me. It's a 1930's linen suit. When I wear that, all the surrounding conversation goes very quiet. I need to reduce the size of the file to show you, I''l wait until the shoes arrive then you can have a really good laugh.

Why am I not having a dig on this occasion? Because whether you're a punk revivalist, a dreadlocked Rasta man in a yellow shell suit from Poundstretchers or a golden geezer who looks grand in revivalist threads & shoes, then not complying with the marketroids' concept of what the population wants is a good thing, IMHO, and never more so than when there's an old motor involved too.
