Re: Car SOS - New Series!!!
As Fuzz said the Escort RS1600i was a typical Ford of the period. Full of rot and rust and suffering from years of bodging a being messed about with. The wiring was a shambles. The so called engine rebuild it was supposed to have had was little more than a few new gaskets. The suspension was another piece of 'death trap' engineering. When it was lifted up so it was wheels free there was need for spring compressors as the coils were unloaded and they basically fell out!
The corner of the screen at the left hand 'A' post had rotted through allowing water into the footwell that had also rotted through. There was some rot in the sun roof area and the headlining had to be replaced. That wasn't shown. The rear frame rails had serious corrosion including the spring pads. All the suspension was replaced including struts springs bushes etc. The brakes had a complete rebuild. The engine was late being returned. We had a car virtually finished but no engine. This knocked us back so it was another through the night job to get it sorted. I road tested it at 2-00am then loaded so it could be delivered. That was the last in the series though it was actually finished before the VW Camper. Again Nathan Barber, Paul Betts and Richard Ball did their magic on the body. It was stunning as was the interior. The seats were fantastic. Another bit of Cliff's quality restoring.
So far we have done 20 cars in 2 series and not missed a dead line. IF there is a series 3 lets hope we continue delivering on time. We do get bloody close though!!

Noooo - don't let it get crushed! Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.

Re: Car SOS - New Series!!!
So, the "new" series that starts on More 4 next Sunday at 9pm, is that the one that we've already seen on the Nat Geo website or an actual split new one made for the telly? Not that it matters too much as it's not possible to look at these too many times and I've set the myth box to record the series regardless, just wondering is all. The 17" HD picture on the laptop's good, but even the 819p screen on the old Sony CRT telly would be better as It's bigger, doesn't need to take up food room on the table and has decent subs built into its mahoosive cabinet.
Thanks for scheduling SOS to start at 9 so we can see the auction results from "For the love of cars" on C4 first, even though everyone already knows what they all sold for.
Oh, and congrats on getting an airing on a (nearly) mainstream channel that doesn't require a cable service (coming over here no later than 2022, so they keep promising us) to be viewed on a proper telly.

Re: Car SOS - New Series!!!
The Sky TV guide says it is the "1986 Ford Cosworth" but they may be using that as an example.

Looked at the Channel 4 site and I found this:
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/car- ... sode-guide
It's a bit of a pest really - I'd been watching the other C4 on 4+1 and doing something else before nine! I'll have to remember to change my routine next week.

So does Myth, but presumably all EPGs use the same source of information? It's all good, TV shows about cars should oust the "reality" genre soon at the current rate of growth.

I remember when - as a kid at home with my folks - we hadn't yet got the then-new UHF, 625 line telly so all we had on our old Black & white, 405 line VHF Philips TV set was BBC1 and some, but not all, STV material. Now even sane people are changing their entire routines to keep up with the hundreds of free to air TV that we can receive. And that's before we get the cable laid in our locations. Then we'll all be completely brain dead.tractorman wrote:Looked at the Channel 4 site and I found this:
