Yeah, muchly so.

Funnily enough, I had organised to buy a cheap Aixam Diesel to play with but that fell through. Not because of the difficulty in working out a non-motorway route from its home in North London to my place - that would have been fun and I like a challenge (the Aixam with the 479cc, Lombardini vertical twin has a top speed of 47mph) - but because not one single solitary insurer would cover me for the car and the key policy that I use for the random other old motors that tend to pass through my hands specifically excluded heavy quads.

The truly frightening thing is that right here in the UK, the restricted version of the Micro is now on sale, has a top whack of 28mph, is larger than a Fiat 500, Piaggio Ape** or mini and may be driven quite legally by 16 year olds. :o Gawd help us all.

**apart from the Ape in the attached photo which is bigger than the moped car:

What is it about the French and these small (usually Diesel) things?

For gods sake they have better weather than us, why cant they use a Motorbike, its probably marginally safer too!

Because the 90 year old grannies who usually drive these things couldn't manage a motorbike.

 Or maybe it's because kids can drive them without having passed a car test? ;)

when i worked as a taxi driver one of my regular clients uncle was a heavy drinker & managed to write off 7 vw golfs before he had his licence revoked so he bought a "voiture sans permis" on his way back from the bar he hit a telegraph pole & was killed instantly...i see loads of those cars about & the standard of driving from them is even worse than the french who drive normal cars.....
