Greetings from sunny Shropshire! I am Ian, I'm 35 and have owned more then my fair share of classics. My first car was a 1979 Mini Clubman Estate (had 11 minis) 3 moggy minors, Scimitar GTE, Manta GTE, Victor FE estate, Mk1 Renault 5, Austin A35 van, A40 Somerset, Escort Mk2 and so on..............

Currently classicless but hoping to remedy this in the near future!

Hi all

I was a member but realised my account had been closed :(

After a particularly nasty virus my computer was re-formatted by my son but I forgot to ask him to save my bookmarks (i'm a bit dopey as i've grown older  )

I 'won' a rubber bumpered MG Midget from fleabay, started work on the bodywork but then bad weather stopped play, the following spring I had a bad fall at work which put me off work for around eight months so work on Midge still was a non starter, I'm hoping to get the old girl started on sometime soon but the fall has had long lasting effects and it's a struggle now to kneel down and most of the welding work is at the lower part of the panels

Anyhow, I've worked in the same heavy foundry (the one that was refused a loan by her mag's gov!) for thirty two years and have been wed for thirty three years (both have seemed like a sentence  )..

I love tending my bonsai trees, playing with my airgun collection, playing my geetars (though the hands are getting a little stiff now too!!) and pondering which of the two thousand watches that i've colleceted over the years to strap on!!!!

I'm the wrong side of fifty but don't feel a day over ninety

They do say that you're only as old as the woman you feel so I must be... erm, over fifty

Cheers, John :D :D

Hello John,
Any chance of a thread (in the "general" o/t section maybe) about the watches please? Surely I can't be the only other one here with a timepiece fascination, Smith Sectrics and coin-op "tick" (credit) clocks mostly mostly, but one or two interesting watches have found their way to me since eBay came along. Blast that wicked eBay!

Is that a less than subtle hint that you may be returning to our favourite motoring publication?

Her indoors also has a 1977 Scirocco GLS which we are restoring currently to original spec and she runs a 91 Scirocco GT2 as her daily.
