These Chryslers are mostly seen hereabouts with a private hire sign on the roof, when I owned the Smart and had it in for service once, I went along to the Chrysler corner of the dealer's showroom and had a quick look in a 300C. It made the Smart's interior plastics look like decent quality by comparison, what a cheaply finished yet intriguing car, the only cheaper, thinner and creakier plastic I've seen was that used in the ashtray hinges on a Proton that I once took in exchange against some radio work. At least Protons were actually cheap.

And out & about today, I saw a white HA Viva coming through the village obviously heading home after being over at the beach for the annual Druridge Bay show (and steam fair) and behind that, a Series 3 Landy with naughty, non-reflective plates ('twas an '81/'82 vehicle) that was hauling a huge old caravan, an Eccles of some sort I think . Actually, no, I don't, I don't know caravans and anyone who says otherwise is fibbing, OK?

And today, I have been at the Bobby Shafto, a venue by Beamish where something called "camping" is practised by a select band of hardy souls. In this camping place, my friends Mike and Joyce - from Liversedge in the People's Republic of West Yorkshire - have been holidaying this past week.

Mike's current daily drive and all year round car is a spotless Citroen GSA that he's now owned twice! It was recommissioned a couple of years back after a spell off the road and is probably one of the finest remaining GSAs in captivity in the UK if not beyond.

Excuse my daily modern motor being in the piccies, parking was restricted around the tents and I couldn't hide it all that easily:




These phone pics don't do the GSA any real favours, it is simply immaculate, even the seat fabric hasn't crumbled away as would usually have happened by now with one of these things. I drooled a little as I took the pictures.

GSA yep that's cool. The ability to select a ride height in any car is a plus in my book!

I have a new set of hubcaps on the mog and they aren't as shiny as those. Your friends must put much love and attention in to keeping that car in that condition.

They do, Terry. Mike knows Citroens (and ancient wireless sets, TVs, clocks, etc.) inside and out and Joyce's daily car is an X reg (1981/'82) Dyane 6 that's every bit as well kept. There's no longer any modern car in their household since the GSA went into service in place of Mike's Xantia Diesel.
