The paint on that Metro seems to in really great shape. Is it a respray??

No, it's all original down to it's weird metric sized wheels, apart from the passanger side mirror- I put that on for my daughter because the driving school car being modern has two door mirrors and I don't like surprises on roundabouts There's the odd blister here'n'there but no rust at all underneath and no sign of any welding either.

The metrics will be going at some point because tyres are so scarce, MG alloys are the obvious choice as they're cheap and easy to find but I'd prefer to find a set of imperial sized steels because insurance companies see alloys as 'modification' and bump the premium Trouble is, probably all the steels have gone to wheel heaven now....mini wheels will fit but the offset makes them stick out a bit.

The only info I could find on 'mozaic' versions here..... I've never heard of them and neither have the insurance companies!!

I had her restored between October 2008 to April 2010. The front seats still need to be retrimmed and I also need to have a compression check on the engine as I may have an inlet valve that isn't closing properly.

Lot's of nice cars in this thread! Here's mine, a 1991 Vauxhall Nova 1.4 Luxe. Hardly a classic, but practical, and a reliable little runabout which I've owned for over 5 years now. It's in good original condition.

The Corrado was purchased from the original female owner in the Isle of Man last year.

Parked on an incline on the ferry with an almost non exsistant handbrake in close proximity to a lotus The car wouldn't idle (this and the handbrake issue made driving on to the ferry a tad frought, with all the pillars supporting the upper deck it was like the tightest multi storey carpark ever), ABS light was on, the heater bypassed

Yes I'm on CM that was (now the Kelsey forum as Kelsey no longer publish CM), I hope you're well - I've been looking for your car thread but can't find it?

I flew over via flybe and ferried the car back, I'd wanted a Corrado for a while but wasn't supposed to buy one until after the Audi was sold. The car was listed on a forum (without photos) as heater bypassed and engine smoking, one female owner and had been standing for a while as she couldn't make her mind up whether to sell or repair. I presumed the head gasket was gone and asked the sellers brother for pics via email. I wanted the car and had to beg borrow and scavenge to get the money together after sending £100 deposit to hold the car for me.

The mile or so drive to the ferry was straight forward enough even with the previously unknown handbrake / idle issues but I must have stalled 20 times aboard the ferry maneuvering between the pillars. Once home I scanned with vagcom, one code for Idle adaptation cleared and 7 for abs, 6 cleared leaving one for the drivers side rear sensor.

The following morning I took the car for its first ever MOT (the car was only insured for 48 hours), there's no annual test for roadworthiness on the IOM. Predictably it failed on the abs light on, handbrake efficiency and a few bulbs. I stripped and cleaned the seized pads and carriers, a new sensor and bulbs and it passed the retest


I then broke my daily MK4 Golf estate and had to use the Corrado for the winter months - a great shame as the car had never seen road salt previously as there's no gritting on the IOM.



I fitted a new matrix before the worst of the weather arrived;






Apart from the occasional wash the car remains as it arrived here, I've plans for a good strip clean over the next winter all being well

Versatile old lady that she is, I'm sadly tiring of her; luckily I have a workmate who's coveted her since he first saw her, so I'm hoping to pass her on & then move to something different in the next month or two. Alternatively, I know of another Allegro that I may be able to trade her for…

I also own a Citroen ZX diesel estate that has just run out of tax & test that I'm umming about getting roadworthy again, and a Rover R3 diesel that's going to be broken for other projects. And to think, just 2 years ago I owned only one car and was still happy!

My latest purchases is this 1984 Escort 1.3L, It's only covered 43000 miles from new and is in totally original unrestored condition!
