I'm just guessing here, but I'd say it came from some sort of Jaguar?

All of the above!

Plus I purchased a set of drawings and build manual for a J C Locust in 1989. Nothing in the intervening 22-years would suggest I will ever start the build but I can not throw them out! I did join the Enthusiasts club and still have a Locust Tax disc holder too!
(A JC Locust was a "no kitcar". The body was built from plywood by gluing the plans to the sheets and cutting round them. Chassis was JCs own design of ladder-frame to take Escort or Herald dirty bits although some builders managed to adapt Triumph Spitfires frame. When the body was complete it was skinned with thin Aluminium sheet). I think it is still available today

I was also given someone's full duplicate set of cigarette cards charting F1 to then present day (1989?) I intended to mount them but they are still inside a 3.5" Floppy disk (remember them?) box.

Plus there is one box which contains my brothers Scouting knife (he is now 55!) , a 177 air pistol, Corgi Lotus 72, 2 x "Humbucker" pick-ups from a cheap Japanese Les Paul copy, some fake stained glass paint and lead. I have moved this box to at least 5 new homes including abroad - why?

Oh, goodness me. I'm not even going to start a list of the junk that's kept in the garage (I don't have one, but dad has two, and a cellar).

I do have loads of bits for a Mini. Which were very useful once upon a time, but I got rid of the Mini about 10 years ago... See post in the for sale bit :)

I took about 5 car loads of stuff to the tip earlier in the year, that made quite a good start on some of the *ahem* valuable possibly useful artefacts that had been stored (aka junk).

We also have a collection of 'useful' metal. Though I think it may actually now be down to just the useful parts, as we had a blitz on it about the same time I was taking stuff to the tip, and got rid of the metal that was more rust than anything else and/or so bent that it wasn't going to be of any use at all  I did have to counter various "but I've been keeping that for 30 years!" arguments before I managed to get rid of various things, mind you... :D

I have a large collection of rover 200 lights stashed amongst other stuff in my lockup. I don't have a rover 200 right now, but you never know, one day I might get another :D

I also seem to be collecting towbars for cars I don't own too, too good to put in the metal bin, but they do take up a lot of space...

oh, and seven mg midget doors, a result of a week of ebay and thinking: "well I won't win them -all- will I ?" ... :D

When I moved to France some years ago I brought with me a brand new stainless steel exhaust system for an unknown car (amongst spare parts for a resto.project I aquired) which I just could not bring myself to throw it out. Its still in the roof space and shall no doubt remain there forever.

Put a picture of it up to the parts for sale section; there's bound to be someone here who knows what it's for. ;)
