I too tend to put piston myths in the file marked good for a laugh. In 50 years I have only seen one piston repaired in the fashion I stated. And we had to bump start the Bantum motor bike which broke down with in a mile. The piston was in an A55 pick up. I put a second hand piston and rod in it. The old piston was a talking point for engineers. Usually the discussions ended in pist and broke jokes. To be honest in 50 years I seen many pistons that aren't broke in comparison to broken ones. Same with con rods.
