Re: Vulgalour's Classic Car Artwork
Wow a Leyland National - I can remember these coming to the market - must have been late 71 / early 72 when they were launched - quite radical in design and concept - Fuzz will be well pleased to see this (he's a bit of secret bus lover - in fact I think he still owns a Daimler Fleetline)
1937 Jowett 8 - Project - in less pieces than the Jupiter
1943 Jowett Stationary Engine
1952 Jowett Jupiter - In lots of peices http://Jowett.org/
1952 Jowett Javelin - Largely original
1973 Rover P6 V8 - Original / 22,000 miles

This week I bring to you a 1938 Lincoln Zephyr convertible. Gorgeous bit of American design from the era when there was just enough flash and just enough restraint to bring about some truly stylish cars.

Original is available to purchase should you so wish.

Re: Vulgalour's Classic Car Artwork
Another Friday, another update. Decided to be brave and actually try out a brand new idea that popped into my head, something that turned out better than anticipated. I'm going to explore this style further, it's already given me ideas for how to create images of other cars in a way you don't normally see them.

Isn't it strange what your eye fills in for you?

Well that's certainly a different idea which is quite effective - looks good.
I guess that as you only do half the lines it only takes half the time
(although in reality I'm sure it's just as complex . . . . )

@Topaz: I had hoped it would take a much smaller fraction of time but you have to think about it, I can't just cut out all the black bits silhouette fashion because that looks really rubbish when I tried it. I'm going to try it out on some other similar vintage cars, see what sort of results I get. I bet some are barely recognisable if you only do the black plastics.
@ JBP: cheers:)
Next Friday is going to be Ford Friday. Shan't tell you which one until I post it though so that should keep you happy having a good old guess.

Classic possibly, but hardly Vintage?vulgalour wrote:some other similar vintage cars,
Mind you, I'd quite like to see some artwork on some veteran and vintage cars!
Cheers
Some people are like Slinkies - they serve no useful purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them downstairs.
Re: Vulgalour's Classic Car Artwork
'vintage' as in of the same period rather than antediluvian motors. The Austin Metro sort of straddles the Classic/Retro tags, definitely being of the latter but not considered by all to be of the former.

Ford Corsair 2000e this week, resplendant in gold with a black vinyl roof.

Original is, as ever, available to purchase.

Re: Vulgalour's Classic Car Artwork
Had a go at some retro style art of a retro icon, in this instance Ian Seabrook's Citroen 2CV "Elly". The original is tiny, small enough to fit in your hand and now bringing cheer to a corner of Wales.
