Putting the shows structure/contents etc aside, I really wish I didn't watch it....

Simply because it makes me want a Mk1 Mexico again

And with today's prices that won't be happening any time soon!

Solution: Build a replica! Think about it; less valuable therefore you don't have to be so nice to it, can modify without your being put on the Mexico purists' death list, can be made considerably better than the original with today's range of OTS upgraded suspension/steering/interior/engine parts, etc.
A straight MK1 can still be found at well under £2k if you don't mind a giffer-spec 940 or 1100 with the steering wheel in the wrong place (a quick look at a recent Gazette has a RHD 1100 Deluxe at £1595 with a Month to run on its MOT and only just out of tax, yes, it's going to need some work - and the seller wants it to go to another Nearly Everywheres member - but so would a Mexico at.... Remind me, what did they pay for that one again? )

I enjoyed the Land Rover one which at least gave us more of the techie stuff that some folk managed not to see in the first episode but suspect that the Stag episode will get some folks sphincters so tight that they'll not need to go for a week.

I've just watched the Landrover episode and thoroughly enjoyed it. The programme is quite different from Car SOS which is focused on the car itself whereas this is rather more centered on the people who use these cars and what they use them for.

The Landrover did look rather lovely at the end of the process, I must say.

Agreed, but Philip Glenister is really beginning to annoy me now The miserable, unenthusiastic host routine is funny if it's Jack Dee chairing "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" but it's just making me scream at the TV "If you don't want to do this show then **** off and get someone more enthusiastic and knowledgeable instead!"

On the other hand it's better than having to put up with Tim Shaw I suppose......

Initial glow is fading for me too. Was nice to see a new style, but it wore thin surprisingly quickly. At the risk of flaming, none of the rest of the upcoming list of cars do anything for me, and as the programmes format is not enticing me back, i may struggle to watch the rest of the series.

Believe me, the fact that it is neither American nor has Arabic subtitles makes it an absolute joy to watch (compared to most of the crap dished out by our local satellite TV provider) here in Abu Dhabi

Trying to prove that a V8 sounds better than a V12 (or lawnmower). I suppose it had a point - it was more objective than two fellers with different opinions discussing their preference. Mind you, I do get more excited by a nice four-pot diesel!!

At least last night's episode gave a balanced view about overheating issues and showed that it was a relatively easy cure - and not a design fault. It'll be interesting to see if it makes a small fortune when they auction them at the end of the series.

I actually saw a glimmer of hope for Glenister - he was almost enthusiastic about the Stag!

As far as Jack Dee in HIGNFY - I gave up with it last night (I was watching something good on Ch5 on Friday). Jack annoyed me as much as the token female did - and I usually like Jack Dee!! I fear it's an example of how Political Correctness can ruin a good show. Not that there aren't good female panellists (Ms Coren and others), but somehow it didn't work last week.

I liked how they had a boffin check the Stag's radiator using technology which led to the conclusion that the design was basically right to start with, as far as cooling is concerned. They did neglect to mention the issues with timing chains but still made me want a Stag, so I went straight from the TV to eBay and may just have done something silly. Again.
