internet problems!

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

It was fine when I logged on five or ten minutes ago, but started crawling at 23:46. As one or two other sites have been a bit slow lately, I suspect that my ISP (Plus Net) may be partly to blame - especially if John is having similar problems.

Well using the same ookla http://www.speedtest.net/
I got the results in the attached picture.

Uswitch gave
Download speed:42.2Mb
Upload speed:7.1Mb
Provider:Plusnet

So it depends on which server you choose on the ookla option and what speed test
you use. Oh and at what time you run the test, the more off peak you run it the
more speed you get no matter what they tell you!

If your exchange is one of theirs then possibly, but my ISP is Vodafone at Home, the exchange always shows in the ISP field on Ookla.
BT do have a stake in Plusnet now which may or may not be a good thing but there's no sign of fibreoptic reaching from the exchange out to here this side of 2015 though normal service would be rather better than the 2MB/s download shown in that reading. It used to be around the same as that, but in MB/s so somewjere, someone dropped my connection speed to 12.5% of what I got since Plusnet took on the Vodafone exchanges.

Aron, I use the default which is often Newcastle. Glasgow and Edinburgh both used to provide better results but now, none of these cities' servers appear on that long list that comes up when you log in at Ookla so I've no option but to let it go wgere it sends me.
