heating

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

25,000 Euro, I don't think that would ever pay back in my lifetime!

Whilst the payback period for installing PV panels is obviously a consideration it wouldn't be the only factor for me if I was considering installing them. We are repeatedly getting warned about the possibility of the "lights going out" due to the chronic lack of investment in the UK's electricity infrastructure over several years so having the facility to generate some of your own electricity while every body else is suffering a daytime power cut could be worth something!

Been using small solar panels to trickle charge dad's boat batteries fow years,
also on dad's discovery and the caravan. I also have a couple of power inverters
to connect the tv or central heating system up to the 12v batteries rather than
the mains power

On Sunny days Solar Thermal hot water works very well. Scaldingly so. Not so grand during the winter, mind
Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound

Biting. It's like kissing except there's a winner

Unfortunately if the lights do go out it is likely to be at night when the demand is heaviest.

25000 euros will buy an awful lot of candles, enough to have light and boil a kettle!

Or, more relevantly, would pay your present heating bills for a long time.
