Snigger at the misspelt title

Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)

Read the advert, it is worth 15 seconds.

I have to admit that Fiesta is tempting, though he doesn't say if it has the master key or not!

On second thoughts, I do want an estate - the Golf (hatchback) is a PITA a lot of the time! Fortunately Travis Perkins is nearer than Wickes and their delivery is a third of the price!

You want a Volvo 850/V70 estate then - I do a LOT of building/DIY work on our place (as you know) and previously I had an old Cavalier hatchback, but replaced it with the Volvo for that exact reason - to carry loads of "stuff" when I need to, and as an every day hack that's much nicer to drive than the Cavalier. I thought it would be churlish not to get the T5 version too, so when I want to embarass BMW drivers that's no problem either!

Strongly recommended - you get a lot of car for the money (you'll have trouble spending over £1k for a good one), everything is pretty easy to work on and there are some excellent chat forums for technical help.

I love mine, prefer it in many ways to the Jag!

You're being sensible again - that's dangerous you know!

A Volvo would be a sensible buy (if it would go in the garage), but I do like the Golf most of the time: £30 VED, "60" MPG - it says (and does lower 50s according to my spreadsheet), handy for our narrow roads and reasonably comfy to drive.

Also, I still miss the old Minx (series IV) and would like another Rootes - a Super Minx or Vogue estate or a Husky would be nice, but the only ones I've seen are either too far away or rather expensive! Alternative (pre 73/4) cars include a P6 estate on eBay that would make a nice project, but again, it's a long way away. I dithered too long over an early "Arrow" Minx Estate and it has disappeared from the listings - though Arrows aren't my favourite and a (late) friend had a Hunter Estate, so it might bring back a few memories of a time I'd rather forget! And no, I was brought up on Minors (of various types) and Travellers are just a little too small for my needs (and too expensive IMHO!).

I doubt eBay is the right place to look though - there's a Zafira and a BMW Mini listed among some "interesting" projects that are offered as "good"!

Nowt to read, Rich. That's how I don't see why it's funny. Just some images of a bail of scrap that we're supposed to assume was once a Fiesta and the words "1996 Ford Fiesta LX - Unfinished Restoration". :?

ebay seller wrote: Here for sale is my cherished Fiesta LX, I've been in the process of restoring this car over the past few months and I have simply run out of time and have other commitments. I've put a lot of time and even more money into getting it to its current condition and it just needs a few odds and ends tidying up to bring it to mint show condition. With a a couple of hundred pounds spent on it, this car could become a real show piece and I would love to see it go to a good, loving home.

Unfortunately my wife reversed into a lamp post causing a small dent on the right of the back bumper, it won't cost a lot to fix and there are a few scratches that will polish out.
Wheels could do with a refurb as there are a few small marks - see pictures.
Drivers side door handle missing, opens with key, but needs replacing.
A few stone chips here and there, could easily be touched up.

Other than these few small things, the car is mint and deserves a good new owner. Engine runs sweet and uses no oil, gearbox is tight and there are no unusual rattles. Test drives available, however all relevant insurance needs to be arranged prior to arrival due to condition and value of the vehicle. No tyre kickers, you bid to buy. Funds to be transfused within 24 hours of auction end.

MOT runs out at the end of the week so will need to be trailered away. Sorry!

Realistic reserve set, I won't let the car go for a stupidly low price. Happy bidding and good luck.

I can't make my mind up if that listing is satire or just cynicism. Having seen some interesting items listed that should suit my tractors - and then seen the pictures - I can see where the seller is coming from! I just hope it was worth the listing fee!

I have two sets of "good" back wheel nuts for one of the tractors (ie 16 x wheel nuts) that I bought as "just needs the surface rust cleaning off" about two years ago. They are now one congealed lump of rust after spending a winter in my shed. Bear in mind that there are all sorts of tractor bits and clean steel in there that show no signs of increased rusting (some has been there ten or more years) and you can see why I get a little cynical about eBay!

Now I see! Why the description doesn't show when I click that eBay link remains a mystery as I see a picture and every other listing I've viewed is working. Or are they? Maybe all eBay listings are that dry and I've been missing all of the funny bits!

Laughing now, mission accomplished.
