This may seem a silly question, but why are you posting about your engine playing up in this thread and starting another thread about your fuel pump being faulty? I'm confused- you're dealing with an A series here, it could have any number of faults, all of them simple to solve if we know what the symptoms are and you run a few simple tests, now have you diagnosed a dodgy fuel pump or are you trying to fix the fault by substituting one thing at a time? Or is the fuel pump swap question related to another car? I'm baffled!!

no the electric fuel pump is for my dads marina sorry if confused.
anyway did another test this afternoon turning the engine you can hear a grinding noise is that possibily piston rings ?
but compression is near perfect?160 psi on all 4

Grinding is grinding. Engines are filled with bits that rub up & down against eachother, and they all make grinding noises if not properly mated/lubricated. If you have identical pressure in all pistons it's unlikely to be the rings as the odds of them all failing by an identical amount are miniscule.
You're approaching this all wrong; you're deciding what the problem is then looking for evidence to support that conclusion. At this point I'd recommend you either call in a pro, or resign yourself to taking it all apart & looking at it properly.
