I have just watched it and i agree, Top Gear has gone down the tubes. Last year's one was quite entertaining, the american road trip was very funny, the polar special was superb this was a complete waste of time. They have scraped the bottom of the barrel with the last series, there was nothing left for the christmas special.
On the plus side, i now fancy owning another mini.

As I spent most of the time glued to the loo! (gastro bug)
It sounds like I was spared the tedium if having to watch this travesty.
My parents have banned the showing of ANY programme that has
Jeremy Clarkson in it, after his comment on public sector workers!
It might be time to replace him?

It could have done with being at least 30 minutes shorter, concentrating more on motoring in India than "trade mission" thing.
Had that been the case I would have been prepared to forgive them for not being up to scratch for once.

It sounds like I was right in watching "Human Target" instead - I only saw a few minutes of TG and wasn't impressed enough to watch it for any longer - especially as Human Target was the last in the series, so had the vital cliff hanger!
I have to admit, the bits I did see of the driving were almost interesting but, once JC started making fireworks, I think I knew what what would happen - I didn't see the actual explosion though, so may well be wrong! It's strange how they always manage to hit James's cars with something - was it a digger this time? Oh so predictable - like their messing with the air con on the Roller.
I suspect it will be on Dave soon, I may be bored enough to watch it one morning!

re: Human Target - not just last in the series, but the last ever! So sad they cancelled it... I taped it, and Scrooged on Film4, which meant I couldn't record TG (I have an old box, can only record one channel at a time

). Funnily enough, even though I wanted to see how well the Allegro did I couldn't muster the enthusiasm to watch the boys abuse yet another nation's hospitality.

Got to be the biggest waste of time ever.
They truly have lost the plot.
I have always been a big big fan of TG but, that was the biggest pile of crap they have done yet.
Can they get any worse?
I hope they do much much better with the new series than they have done with this so called "Special".
Sorry to say this but..........................................
I have to agree!!!

When it was a motoring programme, I used to watch TG (I remember Noel Edmunds hurting his hand on the seat of a Renault 5 - Arh

) but it seems to me that it's now the laugh at Jeremy Clarkson's (And the other two muffins') jokes show. It has as much relevance to motoring as the average car advert.

Yup. They also tied a banner to a train, draping it right across two carriages in such a way that it would look rude if it was torn in half. It would have made the gags in Dad's Army look subtle.

None of the three cars broke down, so the Allegro wasn't required to do anything more stressful than be driven onto the train in one place and off again in the other, no saggy bottles were even slightly overloaded in the making of the episode.
I liked it fine, but not as much as I liked the one where Wesley made a racing car out of an upturned bath, a chassis from a kid's bogey and some strong elastic out of Norah Batty's undies cupboard.

I too thought it was total rubbish. I suspected it would be but decided to give it a chance - wish I hadn't bothered.
I had watched a re-run of both the Arctic & Bolivian challenges both of which were quite good. This was sadly was just pointless, other than wrecking over twenty grands worth of nice cars which seems to be all they are good at. TV License fees going to good use!
My Dad used to keep copies of Top Gear to show his Motor Vehicle students years ago, I don't think they would be much use nowadays!
I think James May should make more of his own programmes as I quite like his stuff. Hammond is utterly rubbish at everything I've seen him in and Clarkson is now of the opinion that he is godlike and can say anything and people will fall about laughing at him.
As it was mentioned earlier about the banners tied to the train, hands up anyone who didn't see that coming!
