Pushed her outside to give her a clean up and to give the garage a sweep

only thing I'm not happy with at the moment is the ride height at the front. The bubbles make it look high even if it were a real escort, but I reckon they need to be dropped 50 to 60 mm, so I got me 3 options

1) Buy a set of coil overs , either as a pair of new ones or a kit to modify the originals, this would easily give me a 70mm drop, and look real trick, but around £300

2) Buy a set of 60mm lowering springs, but I recon these would make the front end to hard £99 + postage

3) buy some 40mm lowering springs, cut the saddles of the struts and move down 20mm, this would give me the 60mm drop, and shoulnd be too rock hard.

Yummy stance, cant wait for the Cibies :)

Better pic of the inner tub, this has still got to be seamed and ground back yet, but its starting to take shape.

Image

other side needs a bit more to it to finish boxing it all together.

Image

Started to fill the gap between the 2 halfs.

Image

still have to remove some excess and grind back, but its starting to take shape

Image

annoyingly hexagonal box section, I'm still thinking wether to box it in or keep the hex profile.

Image

still have to finnish of the corner where there is still a bit of rust to cut out and reform.

Image

Boot floor as it is now

Image

spare wheel sat in there supported by axle stands to see where its best fitting, I gotta remember to leave enough space for a fuel tank.

Image

spare wheel next on the list of stuff to attack

Image

Battery will be going in here

Image

engine shot....dang, it looks sweet in there, I don't know if I should tweek it up, or fit a 4.0 v8 to carry off the extra weight....mmmm dilemas

There's a fwd car that has a rwd BMW platform with V8 and it just looks right.
Seen @ NEC Classic Show a couple of years ago, yes, it's a Ritmo ragtop:

LoL@ the strut brace, that's a bit too chocolate fireguard IMHO.

V8, you know it makes sense.

Surely if you can shoehorn that lot in to a 'scort shell you can shoehorn the 5.0 in rather than a wimpy 4 ;)

Your work makes Leepu Awlia look like a rank amateur. :D

Pure art in sheet metal form. 8-)

best car Leepu ever made was that peugeot 206 from the hindustani ambasador in that advert

Nothing Leepu has created has ever looked "finished" though. the panel gaps are poor, the wheelarches look empty, the headlights always look wrong.
I was impressed with his mechanics squeezing scooby running gear in to a MK2 golf though!
That 'scort is going to be a serious toy, even without a v8!

Only thing with the 1900 lump is I haven't been to cautious with the weight, as it is, it's around the same weight as a standard 318ti, remembering that e36 doors and the tail gate, let alone the roof weigh an absloute ton :), that and I've lost 300mm out of the length, so thats another section of weight loss.

but I've been looking into tweeking the 1900 lump, and there is a fair amount I can do with the ecu, and injector size.

Just my opinion but i'd tune that one first and if you want more poke add the v8 later.
(i'm impatient and want to see the finished product!)

It's more a choice in sound...This is an e36 with a 4.4 litre v8, but with a lightened flywheel.
