 I've been internetting for what seems like ages now, in an effort to remember why this darned car looks so familiar to my eyes. Now I'm thinking that it might be from some 1960s kids' telly series but I'm almost ready to give up. Someone on this forum must know! This could still be a victory for Practically.

Well if winning is simply a matter of signing up to yet another web forum then hey ho, off to join I go. Be right back following some further investigation. 8-)

Damn! What a fascinating site that www.autopuzzles.com is. I've already looked through what seemed like thousands of threads, each one featuring just one car, and I'm still only up to 2007. Join, many hands make light work, etc. ;)

Seeing that they're talking might be 1/4 elliptic springs, short arse etc. Not a butchered Ashley - Austin 7 ??

That blue thing rings a bell, and I'm pretty sure it was a home brew 'special' leave it with me, as I'm sure it was posted on AROnline, either in the forum or on the FB group

It's all over now, Baby Blue:

We feckin' well lost! :o However, we also learnt stuff so it's all good and as a bonus, I signed up to that forum where people post piccies of weird cars and stuff that gets on there because Americans don't know what it is.

For anyone who can't be bothered clicking the RR link again, here a quote:
A very eccentric-looking drophead coupe, based on Jaguar Mk VII M, made by Byatts of Fenton, a Jaguar dealer, for Stoke-on-Trent surgeon John Grocott. Mr. Grocott designed the car in 1953 and it was finally road-registered in 1959. Currently in Scotland...
Which is doubly annoying as I just looked at my programme for the 2001 Callendar Classic event, and discovered that it was driven for the Jaguar Ecosse team when they lost to the RKR in the quarter finals. Grace, Space and Pace you want is it? Buy a Jaaaag.
Traction and manoeuvrability on steep, wet grassy hills you want? Go armed with this:
