£5 for 30 seconds?

Nah, i'll pass.
£1 per 3 minutes on Associated Dairies forecourts and similar price at the Morrison ones these days so either these things have become cheaper or someone's been kidding you on
re the cost of using someone else’s water.
And those things don't dry the car off.
That said, by the time I find someone to help hold the lance, get the two hoses de-birds nested, check the brush end for gravel and actually do the job (to a fraction of the quality but without the drying), it's better, cheaper and simpler to pay your local European refugee chaps a fiver to wash it, wax it and dry it off. Plus they always do the wheels properly and use soft microfibre mops for the drying. They'll even wax the car (I assume that the waxing mentioned on the tariff board refers to the car....) for only one further Pound. Bit of a no brainer really and given that the friendly local Polish lads all tool about in nearly new £20k motors they're clearly not undercharging, even though they pay £200 per week in rent for the use of their pitch.

I'm clearly in the wrong profession.
