Whilst I sympathise with those, who don't wish to live within earshot of noise, whether from aircraft, racing cars etc etc, Mallory Park has been there for a long time and if you don't want to live next to a race track, buy a house elsewhere

Imagine what would happen, if people in West London complained about Heathrow Airport. Would they close that
I had relatives, who lived in the flightpath of Heathrow (East Sheen, so the aircraft were low but not on top of them) but it was there before they moved in and they just accepted it.

I'm totally in agreement with Martin on this. If you buy a house or choose to live near to an airport or motor racing circuit or similar then don't be suprised if there is noise. Buy a house or flat etc near to Man Uniteds ground and try to close it down and see what happens. They will certainly be able to hear the noise then after they've had all the windows broken by disgruntled MUFC fans!!! Motor Sport and the associated industry brings in several billion pounds to the UK.
I believe that these people buy a house near to such places at a cheap price because of the location and then try and kill off the venue so the price will shoot up and they can then sell at a huge profit. It would be cheaper in the long run to buy the property of these whingers and sell it to somebody who wants to live near to such a venue.

Re: Mallory Park at risk!
as an ex farm worker i was used to people buying country cottages & complaining about everything.. one farm in stow on the wold was trying to improve its dairy unit & there was a meeting etc and one pillock got up & asked why the farm was in the middle of the village anyway.. it was pointed out that the farm had been there for several hundred years & most of the houses including his were farm cottages....

Should see the whiny b*tches in and around Takeley, next to Stansted. Like they moved in, and then went "ohh, there's a honking great airport next door?!?!!"

Re: Mallory Park at risk!
....ah, but like Heathrow, it's not the current airport they're complaining about, it's the projected expansion. A second runway will double the capacity- is it really neccesary? Takely is something of a special case in that the airport will effectively double in size and bring the end of the second runway practically into the village, it's a huge development, and I can understand their protesting about it, especially in view of that Korean plane that went down there just missing hallinbury a few years back.....if a similar crash were to happen on take off on the projected second runway Takely is where the plane would come down.Should see the whiny b*tches in and around Takeley, next to Stansted. The other issue is Hatfield forest, a rare surviving chunk of medieval wood-pasture with a sizeable proportion of England's most ancient pollards, which will be directly under the take off path, one emergency fuel dump will destroy a thousand years of continuous careful management, there's very few places left like Hatfield Forest. Oliver Rackham will not be happy and nor will I!! Some things are worth more than the ability to put a few more planes in the air.

I appreciate the expansion concern (which has been 'proposed' for as long as i remember), but they've never been happy with the noise and 'smell' of the current situation. As though living next to an airport won't have noise and smell.
Walked past the crash site plenty of times in the forest. There was a discussion about reopening the area, but it's been decided to let it be and grow wild. (shame the deer can't read the no entry signs, they lift the fence and get underneath!

I believe the crash site is still closed because they never recovered all the depleted uranium, used as ballast in the 'plane. I remember at the time they were telling people to look out for it, apparently it was in chunks that looked like toblerone!
