So what's the connection between that most ancient form of neckwear and the exhaust component that every bugger else knows as a silencer? :?
Now we know what the seat covers are going to look like.

Niiiiiiiiiice  :D
Landrovers and Welding go together like Bread and Butter. And in the wet they are about as structurally sound

Before it started raining again I spent the time taking measurements,
working things out, as well as making templates. The biggest template
and working out is marked out on the work bench top outside.

Here is some of the details.

Image

What's inscribed onto the bench top should still be there when I need it
as it was done in permanent marker pen. It was still there after it come
down heavily and the rain was bouncing off the deck to a good few feet.

And after looking at the weather forecast for the next few days it's going
to be more of the heavy rain.

The markings on the bench is a full size layout of the towbar bracket,
which will have the various parts bolted to it so they don't move when
they get welded.

My parents collared me last night asking if I could sort the Landrover
Discovery lights and towbar electrics out!

So I missed out on working on mine in the only good bit of weather we
have had for days. It was just as well that I did it, because the person
who had installed the towbar electrics had hacked the wiring.

And which ever one of them using the discovery had damaged the wire,
which had been put in a place by the installer where it could, and has
been so easily damaged.

Image

All the dodgy wiring removed, new wiring from the discovery's wiring loom
to the towbar socket and a new socket with stainless steel nuts and
bolts. I had to hack saw the old bolts off., and the socket was shorting
out inside so another reason for a new one! All wiring connections and
ends soldered.

No more dance hall (Disco) light show for anybody behind the Discovery
the next time it's out and about

Doing this for my parent's has made me think more on the towbar bracket
assembly for mine, and how I will need to run the wiring for it and the
parking sensors so I don't have the same problem.

Nothing done on the car, but good news.

1. I found some airtools at the relatives house we are clearing out.
I'm running out of space in the tool shed!!!

2. Mother has put me back on her car insurance again, this time till
January, this means I can go and do what I need do rather than
be limited to one or 2 days a week where I only get out for an
hour or two.

So tomorrow down to the fabrication place where I got that heavy duty
angle iron for £3.00. I'm going to see how much it will be for the curved
piece for the towbar bracket.

If I can get all the pieces cut and trimmed, rather than me drilling the
holes, and dad doing the welding. I might either get dean to do it or the
Fabrication shop to do it depending on prices.

The less time has to do with my car, and the more time he can spend on his
boat, the quicker he can get it repainted with the anti foul paint.
And it does helps him de-stress from all the S**T he deals with at work!

Not yet!!

As I previously stated the family are trying to clear the worst of
a relatives house, and then there is the weather and my health.
All of these make working on the car harder to do!!

I did call into that fabrication shop in Hartlepool, they have the
measurements. They are going to do the curved piece for me when
they have some time.

They are going to try and put a curve in 5 or 6mm plate C bar
(dimensions below) with the centre 2" out.

I will get a call from them when it's done and ready for collection.

A nice little parcel arrived from Matt Wiggins on the neons.org forum.
I have mounted them temporally on the back og the tool shed door.

Image

Image

I then remembered I did have one USA registration plate, which has
been screwed to the back of the caravan for a few years now. It will
be removed, cleaned and put with the others in a better spot inside
the tool shed.
(Yes a blue bumper and other neon car parts under under the caravan)

Image

Saturday and Sunday, dad had moved the cars and horse box around,
so he could get his boat off it's trailer onto a frame. He was then left
to himself to sand the hull back removing it's jell coat, and the paint
it with anti-foul paint.

Lets just say it helps him to work out his frustrations and chill out!
But with the boat being so close, Christine was covered in the debris
from his sanding. It did rain a little overnight, and I had to be quick
before it set like cement on the car. I washed the car twice just to
make sure I got the lot off!

Image

Image

I gave the old girl a quick coat of wax for a bit more protection. Another
new car cover courtesy of dear departed Great Uncle Bill. And there will
probably be another few in his old garage which we haven't even looked
at yet!

At least it covers the car better than the last one. So hopefully the old
girl won't get covered in the debris off dad's sanding etc on his 18 foot
boat.

Image

There are more scratches on the car possibly off dad. But with cleaning
the car and putting the wax on it should prevent it from rusting or even
rotting before the car gets seen by a spray/body shop as I would not be
able to do the old girl any justice with the spray gun.

The last time I did a pearl coat the car looked like it had tiger stripes!

Also as I worked my way around the car I noticed the boot lid seamed
rough as though it had no laquire on it all! Another reason for rthe pro to
do it!

No word yet from the fabrication shop on the curved bit of metal they are
doing for me.

And the weather forecast is rain till Thursday, they are suggesting that this
rainy spell could be here till after the Paralympics never mind the Olympics!

A friend sent me a card a week ago and it's been sitting on
the mantle piece so mother remembered my birtday!

My dad and both brothers forgot.
(both me and mother had to go and rescue one brother's car
broke down at lunch time he never said thank you!)

An uncle sent me a text message.

The only thing to come through the post?
The exhaust pipe connector I bought off ebay at the weekend.

My birthday has been as depressing as the British weather
So I have just gone through the last of the Ben & Jerry's ice cream!

Someone's birthday eh? Hmm, another year older and deeper in debt, as Tennessee Ernie Ford would say.

That's hitting the nail on the head john!
I had a call from the Department of Work and Pensions.
I have not so long ago had a review of my status and the next
one would be next year. But out of the blue more forms and a
medical booked for the end of the month!

I think that as one part couldn't get me off the classification as
being disabled another office there is having ago.
This is so they don't have to pay me money.

And there is no work in the area as thousands apply for 150 jobs
just a few miles down the road, What chance do I have of getting
a job?
http://www.hartlepoolmail.co.uk/news/lo ... -1-4723148

Please note I was made redundant from my last job due to ill health
and not being able to work. I would love to have a job, but my
health is still too unpredictable for an employer to want someone
off all the time.

And I have no chance of a reference from them as the company
went bankrupt!
