I owned this 1955 Austin A50 about 3 years back and it was a very capable car, B series engine so quite simple and very usable.
The only down side is a lot of bits are harder to come by and wheel cylinders for example are 30 odd quid each, though I believe most people adapt more common ones to fit.
Still a very capable car able to hold its own in general use if you could find one. Not overly expensive either as they are overlooked by many. I think I sold this one for about £1250, originally had it up at £1500 and couldn't get a phone call.....
I'd prefer the MGB overdrive box but I too am a fan of the Z Magnette. My reason for not including it is that I don't think the parts supply is quite as good as I would want for a runabout. It only takes one idiot, in a car park, to scrape one side and create a need for new panels and trim .

Yeah, am a bit out of the way, the trouble is round here a lot of folk have a barn and if they can't get top dollar will put something away and let it rot. On the flip side when they buy something they generally want it for buttons. I've often thought it would be better to send things south to move them on. Probably why so many houses have been in the same family for generations and people rarely move.
A customer has decided to buy a 1970 Triumph Herald, as his only car. This reminded me of another possibility, that enjoys good spares back up, though I expect a 1959 model would be quite rare I wonder how easy it is to fit the later pivoting rear spring to early cars and did the Heralds benefit from it or was it only Spitfires/GT6s and Vitesses I forgot to ask if his car has overdrive.
